TL013: “Resting Bobbie”

When Gareth was a child in London, England one of his most unforgettable memories is that of the local bobbie (policeman) leaning on the counter of the local fruit shop, resting as he made his rounds down the lanes and side roads of the East End.

The playful inclusion of the 'limb' near the top of the lamp evokes a similar image, and along with the charcoal gray of the finishing enamel re-creates a magical, chidhood recollection. The spherical, opaque shade also reminds Gareth of this policeman's bulbous, shiny nose.
