Two years ago Gareth met an aged glass-blower who provided him with some interesting insights into the lampshades used in Gareth's TapLamps. One of these gems was that these outstanding marbled/mottled glass shades as featured here were made by firstly creating an opaque, outer skin, then while the glass was still molten, small pieces of contrasting-coloured glass were added, fusing instantly to the previous layer. Typically they were made towards the end of a working day as this ensured an adequate supply of broken or damaged glass pieces.

The lamp itself strongly conveys the message; " I'm going somewhere - let's go for a walk!"
