TL004: “The Globe”

The microswitch built into this faucet requires little more than a touch to activate this beautiful, cream, globe-shaped shade, which in turn reflects the golden hues of the finishing enamel. The faucet is a specialty product sourced from Tokyo in Japan, and was selected by the artisan for its bulbous curves, excellent material, and general robustness.

The base plate is a 4" pipe flange which formerly was part of a steam supply system operated within the locomotive repair workshops located here in Christchurch New Zealand for many, many decades. Now closed due to the demise of steam locos, this flange lives on, continuing to provide a practical purpose for itself. This lamp has a 'sister' which was purchased by a gentleman living in Canada.
