This TapLamp is especially significant for Gareth, as it was the one chosen to be submitted to the Electrical Standards Authority for their rigorous testing of Gareth's TapLamp Company. Hence it was subjected to the most fastidious of investigative procedures and came out as a 100% winner. It has set the standard for all subsequent lamps and has a very special place in Gareth's heart accordingly.

The base consists of a drive sprocket from a combine harvester which for many decades mowed and threshed wheat, barley and oats grown on the sun soaked Canterbury Plains. Clearly ilustrated is the beautiful, brass nameplate with which all TapLamps are provided. Individual serial numbers are also included on the plate.
