The New Zealand Tap Lamp Company is the sole brainchild of Gareth Donnelly, who first discovered his love for working with metals as an apprentice with the Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, England.

He developed his passion for engineering art whilst living and working in Germany, France, Wales, and during many years in New Zealand. Gareth is a remarkably creative individual, having amassed an impressive range of constructive skills. He sculpts, welds, uses marvellously ancient lathes and equipment with nothing less than affectionate devotion.

In short, he loves his craft, and this shows in his handiwork. Using only the finest recycled and new materials and utilising handcraft skills passed down from the Victorian Era, and combined with 21st Century American made electronic components complying with the most rigorous American standards, these Tap Lamps are made to last.

Non-lead based enamels and lacquers only are used in the finishing process, and all bronze and brass metals are carefully coated with a clear gloss varnish. As a final touch of class, each Gareth Donnelly Tap Lamp comes replete with its own solid brass identification plate, certifying that you, the proud owner, have an authentic original indeed.
